Our first PTO meeting will be Monday evening. The Alamo City School PTO works hard each year to provide for the students here. We meet every other month. We only have two fundraisers a year (Fall Fun Fest and Christmas in Crockett). Please come out Monday night and support your children and their school.

Labor Day already!! I hope everyone had a great weekend.I'm so thankful for the rain---and nobody had to miss recess! Remember Grandparents' Day this Friday. Grandparents are welcome to come meet your grandchild's teacher and friends, have a snack, visit the book fair, and take your grandchild home. Children who leave with their grandparents will not be counted absent. Sounds like another long weekend!!

Multiplication quizzes are given every Friday. There are only 20 questions to be done in 2 minutes. Most of the students are doing very well. It is important not to get behind on the multiplication facts. If you do, it can be very difficult to catch up. Multiplication facts are a 3rd grade standard and must be mastered. Please help your child a few minutes each evening to make sure they are staying up to date on their multiplication facts. You can see the ones we are working on by looking at the math page on this site or by checking your child's planner. As always, I appreciate your help!

I can't believe we are already going into week 3. I am very proud of all of the new third graders. They have managed to fall right into the routine and seem very comfortable. My homeroom is a great group

This has been a busy 4-day week!  Grandparents' Day was lots of fun. I appreciate all of the grandparents who took the time to come visit their grandchild's classroom. We loved having you!
We have a math test on Wednesday......Be Prepared!!
Multiplication Quiz on Friday will have 0's, 1's, and 3x3
Looking forward to another good week in 3rd grade!

Wow did that 3 day weekend pass quickly or what?? I love the cooler weather that it brought though!  Get ready for a busy week! Progress Reports will come home tomorrow in the red folders. They need to be signed and sent back to school Thursday in the red folder. Grandparents' Day and Book Fair will both be held Friday. I'm not sure what time, but will let you know as soon as I find out.
We will have our first multiplication quiz Friday (0's and 1's). It is a timed quiz (2 minutes). We will also have a Power Up Quiz that day.

Parents, Please check your child's planner each day. We do not give a lot of homework at ACS, but there may be some helpful hints in that planner.  When we finish a written practice page, we will write that we need to study that. Please go over it to reinforce with your child. Our quizzes will come from those skills. Several of the quizzes from last Friday will need to be signed and returned to school in red folders on Wednesday.
These math skills are new and are more difficult than the ones in 2nd grade. It is necessary for the children to stay caught up. It is very difficult if they get behind.

The 2011 school year has gotten off to a good start. I am very happy with the children in 3rd grade this year. They seem to be adjusting to 3rd grade very nicely. Please contact me if you have any concerns about your child's progress. Thanks for sharing your child with us this year!
